Meet Stan, he’s an acTOR. Follow him as he tries to get an audition, get the girl, or at the very least – get taken seriously.
After winning Best Short Film at the Screen Stockport Film Festival, being highly commended at the Belfast Film Festival and being chosen as an official selection at the Dingle Film Festival, Sahar Film Festival and Fort Myers International Film Festival, An AcTOR Prepares has recently enjoyed a lucrative festival run, and for very good reason.
Written, directed and produced by Denis Halligan, An AcTOR Prepares is a 7 minute short about the trials, tribulations and stark realities of being an actor. Set upon a Belfast backdrop, we follow Stan on his journey for fulfilment as he explores everything from work to women, punctuated by a colourful cast of local characters.
There’s something arrestingly charming about this whole production – from the familiar Harland and Wolff cranes to the traditional Sunflower Pub, the quirky authenticity of this film really shines through. Throw in Halligan’s frank delivery, coupled with a soundtrack by the incredibly talented Jepettos, and you’re left with a warm comfortable feeling that “everything will work out in the end”.
To be honest, I can’t get this short out of my head.
