On national burger day I decided to do a wee review of one of my very favourite burger places in all of Belfast. Rocket and Relish is an unassuming eaterie up the Lisburn road. Occasionally they also have a wee burger van at different events, the best known is probably the Chritsmas market at City Hall. They have fake grass out the front and functional seating inside, wood tables and floors make for an aesthetically pleasing setting. There’s a shabby chic thing going on and it seems to be working. I have visited a few times and always have the same thing as it was so nice the first time, so I can attest to the consistency if nothing else. I have the:
Cranberry & Brie – Char-grilled beef with brie cheese, cranberry sauce, fried onion, tomato, aioli and rocket.
and it looks like this…
As you can see the burger is juicy and tender, the brie creamy and the cranberry full of big ol’ juicy cranberries! As the name suggests it comes with rocket (and if you like relish) and the bap is a bouncy fluffy delight. I was surprised when I first saw this as brie and cranberry is usually reserved for chicken, but I took a chance and I’ve never looked back. The fries are delicious little fries, crispy and golden yellow with a wonderful salty flavour. My wife has had the sweet potato fries and i have tried them and can verify they are verrrrryyyy good too. The burgers come in 6oz and 12oz and I’m always stuffed after the 6oz with fries. The Burger is about £7 and fries at £2, So it’s reasonably priced for a gourmet burger and for under a tenner is a great deal.
All in all this is less a review and more of a recommendation to go and give this place a whirl, your face mouth will thank you!
