The Jungle Book
A poster has been released for Disney’s latest live action version of one of their classic cartoons. We’ve had Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty (Maleficent) and Alice in Wonderland now we’re getting The Jungle Book. I hope you like Jungle Books books because after Disney have had their turn next year, Andy Serkis is gonna have his. Serkis is releasing his Jungle Book: Origins a year later. The voice cast for the House of Mouse version includes Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Sir Ben Kingsley and Christopher Walken. Not bad Mickey. Did I mention that Jon Favreau of Iron Man and Elf fame will be directing? Not bad Donald.
The Hateful Eight
It seems like only yesterday Quinten Tarentino was stamping his feet and throwing his toys from the pram when his Hateful Eight script leaked online and he tried to sue Gawker. Tarantino was so betrayed that he promised to never make that script into a film. It would never see the light of day. Never. Here then is the trailer for the movie that will never be made and will definitely not be released in cinemas Christmas 2015.
Victor Frankenstein
I’m a sucker for a classic monster movie. Especially in a period setting. Victor Frankenstein is music to my ears then. The trailer has all the vivisection, undead apes and sparking brass instruments that should be in a Frankenstein adaptation. Men with tall hats and wide eyed maniacal scientists lurk round every corner, twisting god’s creations into their own horrific abominations. Lovely. The movie is told from Igor’s perspective (Danny Radcliffe) and features James McAvoy as Victor Von Frankenstein. Mark Gatiss is in there too. Fingers crossed it reaches the heights of Kenneth Branagh’s take.
Netflix
There’s not much in the way of new stuff on Netflix this week except for a little horror movie by the name of Babadook. It’s my good brother Chris’s pick of the week and you can read his review here. If you have kids I suggest checking out something called Dino Trucks. I’ve not seen it but it looks like a pretty good idea for a 22 minute toy commercial. The concept reminds me a bit of Street Sharks (they’re jawsome!). Step One: take 2 unrelated things, one common place, the other something with teeth and mash them together into a TV show. Step two: Make toys of these things. Step three: Collect cash.
