Another week another Octogeek. We have a teaser for the live action Beauty and the Beast, the third trailer for Star Trek, a trailer for Popstar and news on Thor: Ragnarok. We also have another trailer for Independence Day Resurgence.
Beauty and the Beast
It’s a song as old as time, tune as old as rhyme, mime as old as lime. Something like that anyway. Beauty and the Beast finally has it’s first teaser/trailer thingy and it looks pretty spot on. We get some nice references to the classic music in the score too. Here’s that teaser and the lengthy synopsis. Two things i’d say about this synopsis is that they have drafted Ewan McGregor in to do a french accent. He’s famous for accents you know. Perfect fit. If only there were some french actors working in Hollywood we wouldn’t have to go with as Scot. It’s a pity that they all quit in protest. Trump announced that if he was president he’d deport anyone who hadn’t been there since the depression with the exception of those who’s wardrobes are 80% clothes made from the american flag. The other 20% or course, being denim. The second thing i like about this synopsis is that it says ‘six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe’ . Amazing where life takes you eh? One minute you’re on top of Broadway with your sixth Tony in hand (that’s right I googled it) and the next you’re in a live action Disney movie playing a wardrobe. Amazing. She’s living the dream.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
Popstar
Popstar looks awesome. Check out the trailer. There’s not that much else to say.
Star Trek Beyond
New trailer is out for Star Trek Beyond. Beyond what i hear you ask? Beyond 2 movies that’s what. STB is out on the 22nd of July. Go see it if you think it looks good or don’t see it if you think it looks bad. That’s pretty much the idea behind trailers

Thor: Ragnarok
The next cataclysmic event from Marvel is Thor Ragnarok. It’s the end of days in Asgard and we have some casting news as well as some confirmations on cast we already knew.
Cate Blanchett joins the cast the villainous Hela who is the Asgardian goddess of death. The tour de force that is Jeff Goldblum will play The Grandmaster, one of the elders of the universe. Tessa Thompson will play Valkyrie and Karl Urban as Skurge. Mark Ruffalo will return to the MCU as both Bruce Banner and the Hulk ( who he says we can expect a lot more of). Chris Helmsworth and Tom Hiddleston are returning as well but you knew that of course. Life as we know it on Asgard will end July 2017.
Independence Day: Resurgence
Speaking of Jeff Goldblum, here he is again all ready for a different kind of world ending scenario. We’ve got the extended trailer for ID:R here, clocking in at over 5 minutes.
Ghostbusters
And finally we have another trailer (the UK one I might add, we’re different from Americans in so many ways) for Ghostbusters. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m looking forward to this one. It looks like bridesmaids with Scooby-Doo ghosts.
