Doctor Strange

hannibal-lecterSome more casting news on Doc Strange now. It seems that Mads Mikkelsen will be joining the Marvel Universe. He’ll be playing a villain opposite Eggs Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange. Mads has been doing a grand old job playing Hannibal in they eponymous TV show. Unfortunately due to American networks being American networks, that show is now cancelled. Other cast members that we already know about are Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Captain America: Civil War

This week we have some concept art from Marvel instead of some snaps of 2 dudes running. We get to see the line ups for each of the two factions as well as a nice picture of Hawkeye’s new costume. It seems like it gets more purple with every movie. This can only be a good thing. In the red corner we have Iron Man leading War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther and The Vision. In the blue corner we have Captain America leading Hawkeye, Agent 13 (Sharon Carter), The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. That flying thing you can see in Cap’s picture is likely Redwing,  Falcon’s pet falcon that he can talk to telepathically. Though judging by the looks of things the movie version is a drone. Would be difficult to explain that convincingly although BAG (Bird Actors Build) aren’t too happy. First Howard the Duck then this. Birds just can’t get the roles they used to in Hollywood.

Bourne 5

Vincent_Cassel_le_moineVincent Cassel has been added to the villians for Matt Damon’s return as Bourne. He plays some sort of assassin who’s after Bourne. You may remember Cassel as the guy with the red face paint in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. If you do, you are mistaken. He wasn’t in that, he was the ballet instructor from ‘Black Swan’. Then again you may not. Kassel joins the rest of the cast which includes Julia Stiles,  Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones.

Artemis Fowl

kenneth-branagh-as-victor-frankensteinKenneth Branagh is circling Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl books for a movie adaptation. Artemis Fowl is a boy genius/millionaire/criminal mastermind who runs fowl (ha! wordplay) of some faeries when he tries to steal their magic. I actually read some of these when I was a little tyke, if you count listening to audiobooks in the car as reading which I do. The books are a lot of fun so hopefully Branagh is the right man to do them justice. Kenneth Branagh’s best film in my book is his over the top adaptation of Frankenstein were he managed to direct himself in a myriad of topless scenes.

Netflix

NarcosAnd finally what should you be watching on Netflix this week? Well it’s up to you really. Added this week is the classic stoner nonsense film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the excellent No Country For Old Men and Scottish comedy series Still Game. My pick this week would be Netflix’s own ‘Narcos‘(A great choice – Chris). A new original series telling the story of Colombia’s infamously violent and powerful drug cartels . Not to be confused with ‘Nachos’, a delicious way of getting cheese and salsa to your mouth hole.
