The awesome guys at the tourist board know there are stacks of fun things to do across NI, from family days out to gigs and cultural events every week. So here are their top 10 exciting things taking place this week (29 October – 4 November)

 

  1. Derry Halloween, Derry~Londonderry, 26 October – 3 November. Over the last 32 years, the Walled City has become synonymous with hosting one of the world’s biggest Halloween festivals. Highlights include Awakening the Walls, Haunted Harvest Market, Museum of the Moon, Little Horrors shows and entertainment, Monster Fun Fair, Samhain Sessions, tours and trails, carnival parade, fireworks plus lots more.
  2. The Ladyboys of Bangkok – Wonder Women, Belfast, 3 – 17 November. Celebrating 20 diamante decorated years, The Lady Boys of Bangkok ‘Wonder Women’ Tour will take the UK’s number one cabaret show to a new level. With some of your favourites from the last 20 glorious years re-imagined, added to new scenes of spectacular costumes, choreography and – of course – hilarious comedy, all at The Sabai Pavilion in Custom House Square.
  3. CS Lewis Festival, Belfast, 3 – 7 November. The CS Lewis Festival celebrates the world-famous legacy writer’s through themes of storytelling, imagination and spirituality. Events include talks, lectures and tours, exhibitions, workshops, theatre, poetry and spoken word events and film screenings.
  4. The Halloween Torchlight Tours, Omagh, 29 – 31 October. Take a stroll, if you dare, through the Ulster American Folk Park as darkness falls, with only the light of a torch to guide you. Beware as ghosts, ghouls and witches will lurk in the shadows of the dimly lit barns, dwellings and cornfields.
  5. Into the Mystic, Armagh, 4 November. Step through Armagh County Museum’s doors into an after-dark event celebrating the mysticism in Armagh’s hidden histories and the 50th anniversary of Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks with Classic Album Sundays.
  6. Halloween Fireworks Display, Omagh, 31 October. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will host a programme of entertainment on the OASIS Plaza including a Halloween fancy dress party, spot prizes, light performers, and gooey Halloween slime-making. The evening ends with a spectacular firework display.
  7. The Wonderful Winter Fair, Belfast, 3 November. This event at St Anne’s Cathedral will feature over 80 sellers of beautiful and original handmade and vintage treasures. On offer will be fashion accessories, jewellery, furniture, homewares, collectables, textiles, artisan food, art, crafts and much more.
  8. Halloween Family Festival, Holywood, 31 October. Dress in your scariest costume to celebrate the spooky season. Have a peak at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum into the atmospheric rural dwellings or explore the Transport Museum’s dark train carriages. Take part in a spooky showcase of events – meet the owls in the Rail Gallery, play traditional Halloween apple games, be a mad scientist with Scientific Sue, watch a scary movie in the Picture House or make a traditional turnip lantern to scare away spirits.
  9. Halloween Day Out, Limavady, 26 October – 3 November. Foylehov Activity Centre has lots of things for visitors to the area to do over the Halloween Holidays. Experience something a bit different among the stunning scenery of the Causeway Coastal Route including hovercraft flying, off-road buggies and much more.
  10. Spooky Castle Look Out, Enniskillen, 31 October. Come to Enniskillen Castle and try your hand at a bat making workshop, enjoy the scary screen show and say hello to the ghosts of pirates past and their secret treasure chest.
