The Cursed Goblet is a hell of an experience and one that is a must for any self-respecting fan of all things wizarding. To be clear, it’s not connected to Harry Potter or any part of his wizarding world, but it’s safe to say it exists in the same universe, though replace Hogwarts for Queens, potions for cocktails and replace Harry Potter with…well yourself.  Situated upstairs in the Parlour, it is an amazing transformation into a place that Dumbledore himself would be proud to hunker down in for a few hours. With old paintings of wizards on the wall, potions galore behind the bar in every colour, with an attention to detail that is hard to not to be impressed by. First, you have a pre-amble video telling the story of the wizard behind it all and how this came to be, before being given your cloak and wand.  Next, you are lead to your table which has a wooden box, and an array of items like glasses and liquids with which to make your first cocktail…erm…potion.  Liquids change colour, your wand is used to activate certain parts, and without giving it all away, it’s a great self-lead foray into this world, as you learn from your spellbook.  Of course, The magic helpers are on hand at all times, should the levels of magic be more than you’re used to.

Next, you have a wander around and take in the various set pieces, the bubbling cauldron, the wizard’s study complete with Owl. And of course, grab a broom and get a photo of you flying high above Belfast city centre! From here we get some more drinks, dispensed by gargoyles and board the Hogw…. Queens Express! Next up is the finale and we’re onto our cauldron cocktail, more magic, more wand work, and enough smoke and mirrors to make David Copperfield blush.  Nearly 2 hours after we entered as No-majs it’s safe to say we are now well versed in all things Magick!  Kudos to the staff as well who were brilliantly professional and really helped bring the whole experience to life. I can’t recommend the Cursed Goblet enough, it’s a cracking way to sink a few drinks and suffice to say it certainly cast its spell over us!

The curse goblet is located above the Parlour bar and costs £30 for approx. 1 hr 45 mins experience.  It is on until March and more info can be found here.

A wizarding experience!
