Discover Halloween traditions from the past, have a go at making some seasonal crafts and take time to explore the Museum’s new exhibition; Costume Cavalcade. This year Talking Reptiles will make an appearance bringing with them snakes, spiders, minibeasts and much more.

Take a terrifying walking tour to uncover ghostly goings-on in the run up to All Hallows Eve. Discover, if you dare, dreadful things lurking in this historic town.   1. CRACKS, Newtownards, 20 October

In this darkly comical and deeply moving new play an unsuccessful suicide attempt leaves young Leanne Dowd estranged and attempting to pick up the pieces of a life still shattered by mental illness. Quinntessence Theatre uses their innovative physical ensemble storytelling techniques mingled with multimedia platforms of film to show the struggle individuals with mental illness face on a daily basis at the Web Theatre.

  1. “Dark Side of Ballycultra” Tours, Ballycultra, 25 – 17 October

Not for the faint hearted, experience this stroll around the lamp-lit streets of Ballycultra town where strange and sometimes ghostly happenings occur. Come and discover the stories that they don’t normally tell the visitors.

  1. How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse, Bangor, 27 October

The pandemic has begun and the zombie herd is heading towards Bangor. Your skills will be tested in North Down Museum with archery and traditional craft challenges. Can you complete the tests before the Zombies attack? Don’t worry – there will be live music, ‘thriller’ dance moves, and a fully-stocked bar to help get you through the night.

Fermanagh

  1. Hogwarts Halloween Cruise, Lisnaskea, 27 – 30 October

This unique Harry Potter theme cruise leaves Platform 9 3/4 at the Share Discovery Centre. During the cruise you can expect to be sorted into your house, cast some spells and sample some fascinating foods from the professors, as well as other fun games and crafts. This cruise must be pre-booked, as all witches and wizards must be accounted for.

  1. Halloween Fireworks Display, Enniskillen, 31 October

Halloween will see the Broadmeadow, Castle and Erne light up with Fireworks, Flotilla, amusements and fun for all the family hosted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. Entertainment includes a Halloween disco, a torchlight trick or treat tour, street music, food and much more with the fabulous Fireworks display from Castle Island at 8pm.

  1. Halloween Fun Days, Sixmilecross, 31 October – 2 November

An Creagán will be hosting three days of Halloween fun, games, music, arts, crafts, fancy dress and treasure hunts for primary school children. Starting at 12 noon and finishing at 3pm. No booking is required.

Tyrone

  1. Halloween Torchlight Tours 2018, Omagh, 29 – 31 October

Take a tour of the outdoor museum as darkness falls at Ulster American Folk Park. Ghosts, ghouls and witches will lurk in the shadows as you sample traditional foods such as barnbrack, pumpkin and shoofly pie. Not for the faint hearted, booking for the evening tours is essential.

  1. Halloween Fun Days, Omagh, 20 – 31 October

Experience the Halloween of a bygone era this October at the Ulster American Folk Park. As you walk around the outdoor museum, guides and demonstrators will be on hand to entertain you with a fun-filled programme of activities which explore Halloween in Rural Ulster and Pioneer America. Have your fortune told, listen to stories by the fireside, play some traditional games and pastimes and watch out for some spooky friends as you tour the museum.

  1. Halloween Fireworks Display, Omagh, 31 October

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will host a programme of entertainment on the OASIS Plaza from 6pm including a Halloween fancy dress party, spot prizes, light performers, and gooey Halloween slime making. One of the highlights of the evening will see Hazel Wand Theatre School delivering a thrilling performance. The mysterious DJ and magician with his tricks and treats will entertain the family as they dodge the creepy characters and vampires roaming the OASIS plaza followed by the spooktacular fireworks display from Strule Arts Centre rooftop.

  1. Spooktacular Rhythm Of The Night 90’s, Omagh, 27 October

DJ 2J’S will be playing the best #clubclassic throwbacks in Lola’s at The Silverbirch Hotel featuring live saxophonist Zacc McGloughlin from the award-winning Anna’s Number. Bring your glow sticks and get your hands in the air – a throwback night not to be missed.
