This Christmas, the MAC is excited to present its fun-filled family version of the festive classic, A Christmas Carol.  A timeless Charles Dickens tale, the story has received a special rewrite by distinguished local writer and actor, Tara Lynne O’Neill (Derry Girls) and Simon Magill, Creative Director of the MAC, putting their own twist on a festive family favourite.

Set in an old theatre harking back to the 1900’s, this heart-warming production will take audiences on a journey through time as they watch the characters work together in true Christmas spirit to soften Ebenezer Scrooge’s tough exterior.  There’ll be lots of fun along the way of course, so expect toe-tapping tunes, laugh-out-loud antics and the magical, memorable experience expected from a MAC Christmas show.

Directed by renowned local actor Sean Kearns, who played The Shoemaker in last year’s show will bring together a stellar local cast. The story unfolds as the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future join forces with Tiny Tim to take the humbug out of Scrooge by showing him the error of his ways and help revive his love of the theatre.

Simon Magill, Creative Director of the MAC said, “In true MAC style, we’ve added our own twist to the popular story, hoping to instil and renew the love for theatre, not only in Scrooge but our in our young audiences as well. We are telling a timeless tale that has been reimagined over the generations and we have a fantastic cast and team in place to showcase our uplifting version.

“A Christmas Carol at the MAC is the perfect way to renew long-standing Christmas traditions or create new memories through the gift of theatre.”

On making his directing debut, Sean Kearns said, “I am thrilled not only to be working with an amazing company of actors but also a remarkable creative team. Tara Lynne and Simon’s beautiful version of this classic tale is set backstage in a theatre and is full of warmth, mischief, humour and above all, heart. A glorious tribute to the theatre and its traditions.”
