It seems the excitement of the circus still lives on at Tom Duffy’s Circus. This was my first time taking my 2 boys and as they settled into their seats with multi-colored slushies and popcorn, we could feel the anticipation growing.

One thing I noticed was that the concessions were very reasonably priced, with a slushie and pop-corn coming in at £5. When you’re taking kids to these things it’s great to see as these costs can fairly rack up.

The show kicked off and had us rapt as the first act was a 5 motorbike ball of death! Luckily no one died, but I did have my heart in my mouth as the 5 bikes whizzed around the giant metal ball with a girl standing in the middle of it all.

A great variety of acts were on shows, with clowns, trapeze, Avengers acrobats, Cirque du Soliel style hanging chandelier acrobatic displays and of course finished off with the Duffy Brothers performing some mad stunts in a giant rotating hamster-wheel-big-wheel type contraption that had to be seen to be believed.

There were only a few animals – dogs, horses, and a llama (but no exotic animals), and I can’t say I missed them too much.

The best act of the night for the whole family was Laser-man, which was an assault on the senses as the whole tent filled up with a laser show that was absolutely insane.

We had a great time as a family going to see the Duffy family circus and as we left my little boys were asking when we can go back, surely a sign of how much they enjoyed it!
