Walters Place is a boutique hotel nestled beside Ownies Bar and Restaurant along side Marine Highway in Carrickfergus. There are 7 rooms and each is individually decorated but all come with Netflix, wifi and in-room tea and coffee. We stayed in the Sapphire room, situated on the top floor which meant an excellent view out over the sea and the sights of Marine Highway.

The room is decorated mainly in blues but with orange and gold accents.  The effect is finished off with flower based feature wallpaper and multi-coloured diamond carpet.  There’s a lot going on in the aesthetic but it all works and is done with the balance necessary to create the stylish but homely feel that the room has.

The room itself is of a good size and the TV with Netflix and in-room hot drinks station are nice touches that enhance the stay. The bathroom is tiled with a large hot shower and square sink.  It’s modern classic and complimented the room nicely. Cleanliness was top-notch throughout and the bed was large and comfortable.

Breakfast was included and was served next door at Ownies, with a dazzling array of cereals and juices to start, followed by the full fry and coffee experience.  It’s a hearty way to start the day and was without fault.

The overall experience was of the stay was truly excellent, a great base for anyone looking a weekend stay in Carrickfergus.
