My Sweetheart & Me is a light-hearted nostalgic musical telling the parallel stories of three couples who back in 1967 frequent the Suntree Bar in the fictional sleepy town of Cheerysville, Ireland.

After recently seeing Twisted in the same theatre a few weeks ago it’s a rare treat to be seeing a second homegrown original musical in such short order. Similarly, this is another passion project that has taken many years to become a reality, and so after a lot of blood sweat and tears, we’re here in Cheeryville, NI in 1967 in one of NIs real community centers – the local pub ‘The Suntree Bar’. The live band really bring an oomph to proceedings and over the next 2 hours or so we’re laughing and singing along in equal measure. The 2 leads, Daniel May and Caitlin Martin, belt out the numbers like their lives depend on it and bring a level of professionalism that really lifts their numbers. The supporting cast more than hold their own with a heart and enthusiasm that makes the whole production seem like so much fun. The story has a nice pace and does a good job of juggling the different threads. The musical numbers that have you humming along even after you’ve left the theatre. Throughout the show, there are many knowing winks to the audience that shows they know exactly what they’re putting on but safe to say they’re putting on the best version of it. It feels like a great night of laughs and songs down at a pub where everybody knows your name!
