In the setting of The MAC’s decadent Luminaire Club (the main theatre is set out with intimate table-clothed round tables, there’s waiter service and cabaret-style decor) viral Facebook sensation Belfast Girls creator Michael Mulcahy brings his larger than life stage show to fruition.

Big Bernie is having a hard time with her new PIP assessment and when she goes for her appointment, an old enemy is waiting to pick a fight with her. Meanwhile, Michelle has a dream of going to Santa Ponsa to get an all over tan but has to pull a few moves to win tickets. But Shankill Joe has plans for the Belfast GIRLS!  Will Bernie get her money, will Michelle get her Santa Ponsa Dream or will Shankill Joe ruin the day? You’ll just have to come along and see…

The class of the Luminaire Club clashes nicely with the brashness of the show and over the course of almost two hours we see the hijinks that your favourite characters Big Bernie Greene, Michelle, Betty, Shankill Joe and Ma get up to live and on-stage. If you’ve seen anything with Christina Nelson (who directs and stars in the show as Betty, Ma and Shankill Joe) in it before then you’ll know what type of humour to expect; there’s lots of laughs (ya hoor!), lots of silly dancing and a few comedic songs thrown in too.

Now, I’m not a follower of the Belfast Girls Facebook page, but I did recognise some of the songs the cast performed, and if you’re a fan of the videos then this is definitely the show for you.

You can catch Belfast Girls at The MAC until 23rd June 2019, for more information or to book tickets click here
