Whilst the stars of the film series Fast & Furious may have only appeared on the big screen, the true stars last night were the guys and girls driving all the cars and assortment of other vehicles around the centre of the SSE Arena Belfast at Fast & Furious Live

The show started with an explosion and didn’t let up from there as we all took part in our very own version of the infamous saga. It features some truly breath-taking stunts including one where a guy jumps over a moving car that really is truly impressive to see live. They recreate some classic scenes from the movies including my favourite where two cars drag a massive safe around the arena, destroying everything in sight.

There’s also an impressive use of an interactive projection system on the floor and a massive screen with moving doors and it really does give you the feeling that the cars are driving on a highway, or taking part in an inner city drift race. Thanks to the sound effects, lighting and this projection, you really do feel like you’re at the centre of the action. The special effects involved in this show are insane, from cars that spark and go on fire, to cars covered in lights, not mention the part where two cars actually float around the arena, you can’t help but be amazed by the spectacle before you.

It’s not all special effects however, there is some real precision driving on show here. With cars passing just centimetres from each other and driving right past the actors on the floor, this show really does have your heart in your mouth from beginning to end.

Fast & Furious Live does a great job of capturing all the thrills, spills and excitement of the franchise and despite the hefty ticket price, it’s a great night out and a brilliant example of what can be done with these type of arena shows.
