The show is split up into 7 sections –  Pristmatic, Egyptian, Cat-oure, Acoustic, Throwback, Hyper Neon and Encore – each with its own distinct theme and of course, some very distinct outfits.

Katy Perry PrismaticDark Horse is a definite highlight, with a creepy bigger than life-size golden horse being carted around the stage to kick off the Egyptian theme. At one point Katy is attached to a prism frame and ascends into the air, it’s decadent and beautiful and the idea of the Prism ties the whole show together.

For some reason, number one best seller I Kissed A Girl falls under the Egyptian theme too with a rocked up version of the hit. It’s unrecognisable at first and results in two guitar players being lifted up into the air with fireworks shooting out of their guitars. There’s also a strange cat bit of the show, where everyone’s dressed up like if you fused the musicals Cats! and Cabaret –  very strange, but very entertaining.

My personal favourite bit of the show is the obligatory acoustic session in the middle. Katy comes out in a floaty flowery dress with an acoustic guitar and addresses the audience directly. She speaks softly and it’s clear to see why she has so many fans, if not for her music, then for her infectiously humble personality and charm. She tells us that she’s been here so long that she’s caught a cold, then when a pint magically appears on the stage she struggles to remember the word “tennants”, takes a sip and then searches for someone in the crowd who’s old enough to drink the rest.

Before launching into a melancholy but stunning combination of The One That Got Away and Thinking of You she states that the songs may be “kinda sad, but we’ve gotten through all that stuff together, haven’t we?” Next up she lets the fans pick from a choice of Ghost or Double Rainbow, they pick the latter and she sits down on the stage to sing it to them.

Katy Perry PrismaticAs the show draws to a close there’s a big old Megamix Dance Party in the Throwback section with all the 90s tunes playing that you could ever want followed by giant floating tacos, champagne and lipstick which go out into the crowd for This Is How We Do. Then there’s the Hyper Neon section complete with newest single Birthday were she gets a fan up on stage to celebrate their birthday before mounting a harness attached to balloons so she can float around above the crowd.

The show closes with Firework  and an amazing firework inspired gown. The show is a good one. There’s everything from spectacular outfits, great dance moves, acrobatics, fireworks, smoke and revolving walkways to amazing graphics and of course great songs. I was sceptical seeing Katy Perry live after reports that her voice wasn’t up to much, but that could not be further from the truth, this is a spectacular show that everyone will love, whether you’re a KatyCat or not.
