You know the drill, you’re out shopping and it’s all getting a bit much so you want somewhere to grab a quick pint or you need somewhere for a quick G&T and a bite to eat at lunch. Perhaps you’re all done for the day and it’s time to kick back with some music and a pint of Harp as a reward for a hard days shopping. This is our fine selection of slap bang in the city centre pubs for just these occasions.

1. Bootleggers

The artist formerly known as Alleycat has retained a lot of the best parts of its former incarnation and toned down a lot of what was perhaps not so good. Based on an olde tyme Americana bootleggers kind of aesthetic with killer burgers, fries, and wings.  They also do a roaring trade in cocktails as well as a fine selection of domestic and international beers. A great place for some casual dining, drinking or a bit of both. They’re surprisingly family friendly too!

2. The Hudson Bar

They now have an entrance on Royal Avenue and a massive beer garden, what more could you want? Oh ok, how about amazing wings and their own craft beer. With an apothecary feel and bags of character this is a nice place to take a load off for an hour before returning to the hustle and bustle of a career in shopping.
