This week we have Baywatch news, Star Wars TV spots, trailers for Agent Carter The Huntsman: Winter’s War and Now you see me 2 as well as the first picture from the David Brent movie. First up though, some news on the Prometheus sequel.
Alien: Covenant
The follow up to Prometheus which got rather mixed reviews to be honest, is no longer ‘Prometheus: Paradise Lost’. It’s now been christened ‘Alien: Covenant’ which isn’t as interesting as Paradise lost but what’s in a name eh? Maybe they’d rather be associated with Alien than Prometheus.Fox has produced a nice little logo for the film as well as a brief synopsis. Thankfully it looks like the best thing about Prometheus is set to return in Michael Fassbender’s creepy, duplicitous David.
“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, which connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War
Snow White and the Huntsman was one of the few films that I found no enjoyment in. I watched it, confused and angry at the nonsensical plot and emotionless Kristen Stewart. All that aside, There’s a sequel and thankfully it doesn’t include the soulless chin as an uninteresting Snow White.
The fantastical world of Snow White and the Huntsman expands to reveal how the fates of The Huntsman Eric and Queen Ravenna are deeply and dangerously intertwined. Chris Hemsworth and Oscar winner Charlize Theron return to their roles in The Huntsman Winter’s War, an epic action-adventure in which they are joined by Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain, as well as director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. Producer Joe Roth (Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland) once again leads the team in a breathtaking new tale nested in the legendary saga.
There’s a lot more in the official synopsis than that but it’s over 200 words long and it’s all boring nonsense that over explains the plot. I’ll sum it up for you though.
‘Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished’ blah blah ‘suffered a heartbreaking betrayal’ blah blah ‘forever harden your hearts to love’.
‘When Freya learns of her sister’s demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror’ exposition, blah blah, whimsy, colourful language, blah blah ‘harness its power’. Something something, ‘wicked sisters’, enchanted sparkly weapon that never breaks, evil ne’er-do-well and ‘their amassing army shall prove undefeatable unless the banished huntsmen who broke their queen’s cardinal rule’ blah blah blah save Eternia.
We have the trailer too which still doesn’t make a lot of sense but it does contain (among other things) a CGI badger and polar bear, Chris Helmsworth punching a wall, the Ice Castle from Frozen and enough gold leaf to service a Michelin star restaurant.
Baywatch
Remember that big screen adaptation of Baywatch that’s coming our way? Well joining The Rock and Zac Efron is on the beach is Alexandra Daddario playing the role of Summer. Alexandra is probably most well known for her role in True Detective. Here we have a picture from The Rock’s Instagram showing her smiling like a loon. Good luck to her.
