Game of Thrones – Character cheat sheet

WINTERFELL

Roose Bolton
Roose now holds Winterfell after personally killing Robb Stark at the red wedding. He’s not as powerful as he should be though as the pact he had with Tywin Lannister may not be worth much now that he’s dead. He has decided that it’s best to marry his son Ramsay Bolton (formally the bastard Ramsay Snow) to Sansa Stark to give some legitimacy to his claim. He sent Ramsay and 20 men to destroy Stannis’ campsite and is waiting in Winterfell for the battle with Stannis to come to him

Ramsay Bolton
As cruel as Joffery ever was Ramsay Bolton is now the heir to his Winterfell provided his father and his wife don’t have a boy. After being particularly nasty and removing Theon’s boy parts, he is now turning his attention to his new wife. He’s been having his way with Sansa, beating her and generally being quite cruel. He was last seen setting fire to Stannis’ camp and food suppliesbut is now back in Winterfell

Sansa Stark/Bolton
This season, after being rescued by Petyr Baelish, Sansa has been taken home to Winterfell. Things are different though as now it’s ruled by the House Bolton. Sansa Stark is now Sansa Bolton, married in the Godswood to the cruel Ramsay Bolton. She’s attempted escape from his cruelty but this resulted in her maid being flayed to death. Sansa is now locked in her room.

Theon Greyjoy / “Reek”
A shadow of his former self. Reek sees the cruelty of Ramsay but literally doesn’t have the balls to do anything about it. He told Ramsay of Sansa’s escape attempt so is still loyal to the Boltons. He has however revealed to Sansa that her 2 younger brothers Bran and Rickon are still alive.

Brienne of Tarth
Last season Podrick (the one that all the hoors of Kings landing seem so pleased with) and Brienne were searching for the Stark girls. Brienne battled the hound in the Eyrie and knocked him down a cliff with a rock. Arya got away. This season she found Sansa in a tavern, travelling with Petyr Baelish. Brienne offered her serviced to Sansa but was refused. There’s a bit of a scuffle, Brienne and Podrick are outnumbered. They flee and eventually end up in Winterfell, taking a room at an inn to wait for Sansa’s signal if she needs help.

BRAAVOS

Jagen H’ghar
The Faceless man who killed 3 people for Arya to repay the debt he owed her for saving his life. He has now agreed to take her into The House of Black and White to be trained to be ‘no one’. Cryptic I know…..

Arya Stark
Having arrived in Bravos, she is eventually allowed to enter the House of Black and White. Eventually Jagen H’ghar allows her to be trained. She is not ready to be no one but she is ready to be someone.
She’s tasked with poisoning a debt collector but before she can do it she sees Ser Meryn Trant arrive at the docks. Meryn is on Arya’s list of people she wishes dead. She is disguised as an oyster seller and follows him to a brothel. Here she discovers he has a taste for very young girls. We last see her returning to Jagen H’ghar to tell him she will kill the debt collector tomorrow as he wasn’t hungry today. It looks like Jagen senses she is lying but he says nothing.

Ser Meryn Trant
He’s on Arya’s list and has just arrived in Braavos. Last seen being spied by Arya at a brothel. His preference for young girls might just back fire on him.

ELSEWHERE

Rickon Stark
Last seen in Season 3 (so long ago), Bran and Rickon were traveling north with Hodor, Osha and a few others. They nearly bumped into Jon Snow and the wildlings that scaled the wall but they were busy hiding in an abandoned windmill. Bran asks Osha to take Rickon to the Last Hearth, seat of House of Umber. The Umbers are loyal to the Starks.

Bran Stark
Bran was seen last season hunting for the 3 eyed Raven. He’s the one with the broken and the magic warg powers. He’s been traveling with Joren and Meera. Joren also has powers. Eventually they get to a giant weirwood tree on a hill. They are attacked by wights (people turned zombie by the whitewalkers). Joren dies. Bran and Meera are led to a cave by a ‘Child of the Forest’. Here Bran finally meets the 3 eyed raven he’s been chasing since season 1. The raven is revealed to be an old man who’s body is fused to the roots of the weirwood tree. The old man crypticly reveals that Bran will never walk again but he will fly.

Hodor
Still among the living, he’s not been seen this season. Hodor is in the cave with Bran and Meera and the 3 eyed raven. Hodor, Hodor, Hodor.

List of the Recently Deceased

Tywin Lannister – Killed by a crossbow bolt fired by Tyrion last season.
Joffery Lannister – Poisoned by Olenna Tyrell with the help of Littlefinger and Dontos. Thankfully he’s still dead.
Lysa Arryn – Killed by her new husband Petyr Baelish last season
Sandor Clegane – Last season the Hound battled Brienne and fell down a cliff. He pleaded with Arya to kill him but she took his coins and left him for dead instead. Is he dead though?
Barristan Selmy – Advisor to Daenerys, killed by ‘Sons of the Harpy’.
Oberyn Martell – Killed by Sandor Clegane in the trial by contest at Kings Landing.
Maester Aemon – One of the only if not THE only characters to die of old age. He died in his sleep at The Wall.
Hizdahr zo Loraq – The would be King to Daenerys Queen. He’s no Khal Drogo. He was killed by a ‘Son of the Harpy’. Yay!
Mance Rayder – Leader of wildlings, former Night’s Watchman. Burnt at the stake by Stannis and shot through the heart by Jon Snow.
Lord of Bones – a leader of the free folk he was killed by Tormund for being mouthy. His costume was unconvincing.
Shireen Baratheon – Sacrificed to the Lord of Light by being burnt at the stake.

That is some list of characters to keep track of and that’s not even them all! Hopefully its enough to spruce up your knowledge for the final episode this season. Enjoy the season finale  safe in the knowledge that they’ll probably be adding your favourite character to the dead list soon!
