Movie wise Netflix has been a bit light this week, and definitely light on movies worth watching, so I finally got round to checking out the Spy thriller ‘The November Man’ which was added 16th Aug (so it’s relatively new). Personally I love any movie where Pierce Brosnan is a spy, but a grizzled old vet spy who is pitted against his former protege, take my money Netflix! Fortunately it’s all included in the price.

Five years into his retirement, CIA veteran Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is pulled back into service to help retrieve a Russian agent — also his former lover — who has incriminating evidence on Federov, acorrupt Russian leader. When a different CIA team, led by Devereaux’s former protege (Luke Bracey), shows up, the mission goes south and Devereaux’s ex-lover is killed. Now a rogue agent, Devereaux drags a relief worker (Olga Kurylenko) along on his mission to settle the score.

I really enjoyed this, it’s meaty enough to get your teeth into but has enough action that you can watch it as pop-corn fodder should you want to.  It’s also quite brutal in places and Brosnan shows he can still hang with the young ‘uns, but it never gets too heavy on one trope maintaining a good balance between story telling, character development and fast paced action.  There’s not much of his James Bond persona either as this is played straight, he’s a serious spy with serious spy business to do guys, get out of his way.  Click here to watch!

BONUS CONTENT – This week the incredibly silly spoof series on all those scripted-reality ‘Housewives Of’ shows – The Hotwives Of Orlando- premieres in the UK on Netflix. Helmed by ‘The League’ and ‘How Did THis Get Made?’ stalwart Paul Sheer and also featuring a who’s who of the new wave of American comedy,  I thought it was very funny. But beware, it is incredibly stupid!  You can watch it right here
