Avengers-Game-Thor-SkrullWhen a blockbuster of the size and scale of The Avengers hits theaters there’s usually a game to go with it.

Cash in as much as possible, let the game promote the movie and vice versa right?

As you might have noticed though there have been a lack of console games for Marvels Avengers.

There was a Hulk game, a Captain America game and an Iron Man game when those movies came out but nothing for the big daddy of them all or any of the movies since. This may be in part because of the demise of THQ Australia. There was a fairly ambitious Avengers game planned to launch along with the movie which was pretty much finished before it was shut down and canned. Instead of treading water and following previous super hero games this one had something to make it stand out from the crowd.

Like Halo or Call of Duty this would let you experience your environment in theĀ first person. Below is a fairly lengthy video from Unseen64 detailing what happened to the game as well as plenty of footage of the game itself. Suffice to say it looks amazing. I will mourn its demise.
