Is it Wednesday already? Today I have some stuff on Trainspotting, Hellboy, Game of Thrones, Batman V Superman, Captain America, Star Wars and more. Lets get to it!

Trainspotting 2

trainspotting-52107f74dabb6Bafta and Academy award winning glory hound Danny Boyle’s has just finished premiering his latest Oscar bait. ‘Steve Jobs’  stars Micheal Fassbender as Steve Jobs. It’s a film that i’d have no interest in if it didn’t star Fassbender and wasn’t directed by Boyle and to be honest I still don’t feel compelled to see it. Still it’ll probably win lots of awards and nominations because it’s a biopic of a dead guy with a decent star and director attached. Boyle’s next movie though may be more interesting. He’s returning to Trainspotting with the original cast and the original screenwriter who’s written a script based on Irvine Welshes 2002 novel ‘Porno’. Porno follows up on the crew, ten years after Trainspotting and follows them into the world of, well porn. Actors Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle have all agreed to reprise their roles for the sequel. Could be fun, don’t count on any Oscars though.

Batman v Superman

Jesse Eisenberg has been talking about the tone of Batman V Superman while promoting American Ultra.

“It was written by this guy, Chris Terrio. This is like his first movie after Argo. He’s just this brilliant writer of characters. So this movie is not this kind of cartoonish superhero movie […] It is a very serious and well acted, well written, well directed movie. It’s really phenomenal”

Well he seems happy with it then.  Here are some new pictures to help you imagine how brilliant and phenomenal and non cartoonish it will be.

Star Wars VIII

benicio-del-toro-iron-maiden-fanBenicio Del Toro has just been cast as a villain in Star Wars 8. Now that Disney owns both Star Wars and Marvel universes will Benicio be reprising his role of ‘The Collector’ from Guardians of the Galaxy? Will we finally see the merging of 2 movie universes, to create the ultimate merchandising machine? Probably not. While we’re on the subject of Star Wars merchandise. Disney have released a whole boatload of new toys and gizmos this last Friday. Including a drone Millennium Falcon and a miniature fully working BB-8. Check them out cos they are pretty awesome. They do come in at over $100 though (not sure of the retail in pounds but looks to be pound for dollar) so get saving or else little Timmy (you called your kid Timmy, right? All kids are called Timmy when they’re young) will be having a disappointing Christmas this year.

Captain America

Chris EvansChris Evans has long been hinting that that he’s not long for the world of acting, opting to go into directing instead. His contract with Marvel has him tied up to playing Steve Rogers for the 2 Avengers: Infinity War films that will come after Civil War in 2018 and 2019. Speculation was that after 2019 Captain America would be hanging up his Shield (do people hang up shields?) this however looks like it may not be so. ETonline gave us some insight into his thoughts on finishing filming Captain America 3.

“It always feels so good to kind of wrap and just say ‘alright, one more down’ […] but it’s also kind of like high school in a sense. You keep looking to when you’re going to be done, and we’re almost done now, and you’re not quite ready for it to be over. It’s almost terrifying to think about these being done”.

He also had a few things to say to Collider on the subject regarding whether or not he was up for more Captain America after his contract ends..

“Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me […] I’ve never had such a relationship where you have such-I mean look at my resume, I’m used to being on set being like, ‘ah is this movie gonna be terrible?’ Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor”.

Sounds like we may have Chris Evans in the role as long as Marvel want him.

Hellboy 3

hellboy1I bet the first time Ron Perlman put on the make-up it was kinda fun. ‘Hey I look like a big red devil monster’ he probably said to himself. ‘Somebody stole one of my hulk hands’ was probably his second thought. After that, the 4 hours in the make-up chair for a man who is now 65 probably wasn’t his favorite part of the day. Playing some sort of aging biker, riding motorbikes and firing shot guns etc was probably more his idea of a good time. When you make a comic book movie though, you gotta expect some sort of fan reaction and Hellyboy has long been a fan favorite. It seems that even though he doesn’t relish getting back in that chair and putting on that hulk hand he knows that to leave Hellboy without a trilogy would be a disservice. While we don’t have any further information that Hellboy 3 is in the works we at least have word that Perlman is open to a return… for the fans.

“I really feel as though I’m done with the character. I don’t have a burning desire to put that sh*t on again. But Guillermo told me what the resolve of the trilogy would look like, in broad strokes, and it’s such an amazingly theatrical, cinematic idea, that I found it essential that we do it. We were designed to be a trilogy, with a beginning, a middle and an end. We’ve only done two-thirds, so I feel that we’re not really done until we finish it.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

The_Bad_BeginningSun’vents (I’m big on abreves as Tom Haverford would say) looks to have found it’s director and it’s none other than Barry Sonnenfeld. The Netflix series based on the books by Daniel Handler (under the name Lemony Snicket) has also found it’s showrunner in Mark Hudis (True Blood). Sonnenfeld has directed Men In Black and The Addams Family so there is hope that he could do a good job here. He was also involved with the Film version at one point but left the directors chair over budget concerns. I like the idea that he seems to care enough about the material to come back to it. Fingers Crossed as I do love me some Sun’vents…… it’ll catch on, you’ll see.

Game of Thrones

richard-e-grant-060812It’s ages until we get our next fix of GOT ( told you I was big on abreves) but we do have some casting news. Richard E. Grant of ‘Withnail and I’ and ‘Spice World: The Movie’ fame will be joining the cast for season 6. WHo will he play? We don’t know. How many episodes will he be in? We don’t know. All we do know is that if he’s in any way popular he’ll be murdered before the season is out.

The Gamechangers

Ol’ Harry Potter is all grown up and he’s got chest hair and everything. He even did that naked horse play  and because the internet is the internet, pictures were taken and put online just to prove that he wasn’t a little wizard any more. Apparently, whoever leaked those pictures is a creep. The play’s writer Sir Peter Shaffer (who definitely isn’t that old Herbert guy out of Family Guy)  is furious over the posting of the pics. The 82-year-old man said, “It’s very, very bad behavior. Whoever did it is a creep.” Well said Sir.

Danny Radcliffe is continuing his big boy roles in the acting world with BBC Two’s ‘The Gamechangers’. Starring alongside Bill Paxton (It’s over man! Game over!) as one of the dudes behind Grand Theft Auto. He has face hair and everything. Rockstar have tried to take the BBC to court to stop them showing it so hopefully it should be interesting. It airs on BBC2, Tuesday 15th September.

Netflix

This week Netflix have been on holiday or something because there’s nothing of note being added. The only thing I can recommend is Disney Pixar’s UP. Dem feels eh? If you’re not in the mood to cry at what is essentially a cartoon then there’s not much else that new…..unless……nah you wouldn’t be interested in that would you? I mean……………hmmmmm, maybe?….. nah that’s not what you’re looking for when you settle down for a nights entertainment.  You wanna know what it is? Really? Ok I’ll spill…… IN SEARCH OF PIPPA MIDDLETON! Oh yeah! Boom! According to IMDB it is ‘The story of Kate Middleton’s sister, who at the Royal Wedding entered Westminster Abbey as a bridesmaid and emerged a global phenomenon.’ How could you say no to that? I hope it’s like a survival game show where she’s been air dropped in the Amazon and Bear Grills has 3 days to find her before she starves to death or is eaten by an anaconda.
