Daredevil
Not only is Daredevil back for another season (gotta wait til 2016 though) but we have confirmation from Marvel that Frank Bernthal of Walking Dead fame will feature as The Punisher AKA Frank Castle.
“Bernthal will portray The Punisher, one of Marvel’s most popular characters. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.” – Marvel.com
The Punisher hasn’t had the best run on the big screen but I reckon if anyone can do him right it’s Bernthal and the team behind Daredevil. The show currently has a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes which is quite a leap for the character, especially from the 45% that the 2003 film has.
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences. Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.” – Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television.
X-Files
The truth is out there and it’s in a new six episode limited series from Fox. Chris Carter is in charge of the project as well as writing it. All key cast members are back too (crucially that’s Mulder and Scully as well as ‘The Smoking Man’). The X-Files was a good show back in the day, hopefully they can recapture some of the magic and scare the bejesus out of us once again. The new X-files is currently filming in Vancouver.
Game Of Thrones
Game Of Thrones is over for another year and the internet will be a fair few memes lighter in the coming months. As usual, the final episodes had us tearing our clothes and crying at the Gods, but there’s nothing we can do. As far as hints for series 6 go, we’re now at the point where there are no more books. George R.R. Martin is frantically trying to finish the next book before season 6.
Game Of Thrones Just seems to keep getting bigger and there’s no sign of it stopping any time soon, according to visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer.
“Between season three and season five, our shot count doubled,” says Bauer in an interview with Yahoo. We can look forward to seeing”other environments that we haven’t seen people in before”. Best of all though “the dragons will again be double in size.”
Games news
Xbox One to become backwards compatible. One of the annoying aspects of Microsoft’s new console was that all your Xbox 360 games wouldn’t play on the new system. No trading in your 360 for cash to put towards your shiny new Xbox One if you want to still play your old games. Well now that’s finally being rectified. Microsoft are starting to go through the list of previous 360 games and one by one making them compatible. Xbox chief Phil Spencer said that an initial roster of 100 Xbox 360 games would now be playable on Xbox One via download.
In this world of shoot-em ups and sequels it’s hard to find an original concept that captures the imagination. At E3, EA might just have the thing. They released this trailer for a platformer called Unravel about a little fella made of wool. It looks like it could be a lot of fun and something refreshing that doesn’t involve blowing people’s heads off with a shotgun (although that is fun too).
Other news includes new Halo, Gears of War and Tomb Raider games. Sony will also finally be releasing the long awaited follow up to Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, in 2016. Final Fantasy VII will also get a full remake for the PS4.

It’s on Netflix now and that seems like the perfect place to catch it. If that doesn’t take your fancy how about Red Dwarf ?
