Amanda Beech – Sanity Assassin (Northern Irish Premiere)

AMBITIOUS, VISCERAL VIDEO INSTALLATION

Throughout her practice, British-born, California-based artist Amanda Beech entangles narratives from philosophical theory, noir-ish TV shows such as 24 and CSI, the hard-boiled writing of James Ellroy, and real political events.

In ‘Sanity Assassin’, a highly visceral, large-scale video installation, Beech investigates the condition of lawlessness, contingency and instability when imagined as a natural state of the human condition, looking to how we can now understand politics, agency and power in this context.

Theatre Des Bouffes Du Nord – The Suit (Northern Irish Premiere)

Theatres Des Bouffes Du Nord and renowned European theatre and former RSC director Peter Brook demonstrates that some themes don’t wear out on stage by giving The Suit a new life,  presenting in its original English language version, having previously toured the production around the world with a French adaptation.

This simple but sad South African story of infidelity centres on a middle-class lawyer who punishes his wife for being unfaithful to him by treating the suit that her lover left behind as a physical person in their life.  She has to feed it, entertain and take it out for walks as a constant reminder of her adultery.
