It has been over a year since we last went on the Belfast Food Tour so we decided to have another go and see what a difference the year has made! Also any excuse to stuff our faces with local produce.  At this point it’s best to go and read the original review right here, go on I’ll wait while you do, OK all caught up? Then I shall begin.

I’m happy to say that the tour has remained largely unchanged, the most major change is that there’s less walking, there was one stop on the original tour that was a bit out of the way from the rest and it has been removed. Because of this the pace feels better, less rushed and more like a dander than a power walk!  The rest of the stops remain and the sampling and amount of food and drink remain plentiful.  Our guide, Jenny, was brilliant and had a lot of new info that we didn’t hear last time, so her tour info was different from that of Caroline’s last time.  Certain parts were a wee bit better organised this time too, something that has certainly come from more experience on the part of the guide and the food purveyors, this made the tour a bit slicker (but not too slick).  My only complaint was that I thought our group was a bit too big, we had 21 people and it just felt like too many.  I understand that some tours will have less and some more, but for me I would like a smaller cap on how many were allowed on a tour.

£45 for this tour might seem pricey but for the amount and quality of food and knowledge you get it really is worth it. Included is a visit to one of the world’s top chocolatiers, the third best coffee house in Europe and you end up having a proper meal too at the conclusion, in one of Belfast’s top restaurants. So the money is spent well and a perfect way to show off NI to any visitors, I can’t recommend it enough!
